The Dance Place

The Dance Place is where adults can drop in all year round for a class in jazz, modern, contemporary, ballet, zumba, African, Latin, and barre workout. Our Luigi instructors learned from the master himself and have vast knowledge of its subtleties and style; Ballet instructors gently teach the proper alignment and intricacies of this classic discipline; Jazz teachers mix the best of modern, blues and funk into their choreography for a fresh dance experience. Modern classes incorporate Limon, Graham, Cunnigham and Horton among others. Our non-competitive, nurturing environment makes dancers of any level feel comfortable to express themselves. The same philosophy goes for our children?s classes. It?s about the creative process, the love of movement and artistic expression, while learning the fundamentals of dance in its various forms. Our Joppa Dance youth companies, Joppa Jr. (grades 4-6), Joppa Two, (grades 7-8), Joppa T2 (grades 9-10) and Joppa Teen, (grades 10-12) have the additional opportunity to perform throughout the year, attend master classes, and mount their own pieces. Auditions for Joppa are held every June.
