Foreman / Lead Painter

The ideal Foreman / lead painter manages crews of painters while working on indoor and outdoor assignments. Some of their duties are estimating material requirements, assigning tasks, evaluating work progress, quality control, ensuring that safety guidelines are respected, recommending corrective actions, and assisting recruiting and training staff.

A successful Foreman /lead painter has painting techniques expertise, leadership, supervisory skills, attention to details, and good communication abilities. They have experience in painting with various tools and in various heights and spaces while observing all safety measures. They must be reliable and deft as well as possess great attention to detail in completing their duties.

In addition:


- Manage crews of 2-4 painters while working on indoor and outdoor assignments
- Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary
- Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
- Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
- Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster)
- Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture
- Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools
- Apply varnish and other finishes
- Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions
- Ability to complete jobs on time and on-budget
- Ensure all sites are clean and tidy during all phases of a job


- Proven 2 plus years’ experience as a Foreman / lead painter
- Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them
- Solid knowledge of residential and commercial painting techniques
- Must have own vehicle, preferably a truck
- Must have own materials
- Valid driving license
- Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.)
- Good basic math skills
- Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.
- Conscientious with great attention to detail
- A person who can supervise and works well as a member of a team or group
- Excellent communication skill with company management, customers and team members

- High school diploma or GED; successful completion of an apprenticeship
- OSHA certified
- RRP lead training
