Max carries the tradition learned as a thirteen year member of the original kings of Tex-Mex, Doug Sahm's Texas Tornados, and as right hand man to Tex-Mex  accordion legend (2012 NEA National Heritage / five time Grammy winner), Flaco Jimenez.

Building on this foundation, Max formed Los Texmaniacs combining traditional roots music with contemporary vitality and musicianship.

Los TexManiacs previous albums - "Texas Towns & Tex- Mex Sounds" (Latin Grammy nominated) and the Grammy winning "Borders Y Bailes” – (both on Smithsonian Folkways) combine a mix of traditional polka, waltz, bolero, redova, danzon, & Schottische, with western swing and conjunto. You will hear elements of rock 'n roll, blues, and jazz riffs keeping the music fresh and exciting, helping attract new audiences.
