Snowy Owls are regular winter residents on Plum Island
Event Description:
Plum Island and its Parker River National Wildlife Refuge is a US Top 100 birding site. Its coastal marshes with vegetated dunes provide diverse habitats that support a rich diversity of birds all year-round. Join a professionally guided bird tour with Steve Hale from Open World Explorers to find overwintering loons, grebes, ducks, gulls, ... and the Snowy Owl. Binoculars, spotting scopes, and field guides are available for tour guests (no charge). This 2-hr tour will visit bird viewing locations on the ocean side and (Plum Island) sound sides of the island, including the new and improved Hellcat boardwalk. Tell the kids ... this is real life Pokemon Go. This tour meets in the parking lot of the refuge Visitors Center (6 Plum Island TPK, Newburyport, MA). [When proximity for view birds demands it, COVID masking protocols and social distancing are practiced on this tour.]
